Freightliner of Grand Rapids & Kalamazoo: About Us

In January of 1978, a company was formed to represent the Freightliner brand for the West Michigan area and it was named Freightliner of Grand Rapids Incorporated. In 1985 the operation was moved to its present location on Clay Avenue in Grand Rapids on a 13 acre tract of land. The organization made a bold move and added a branch in Kalamazoo in the fall of 1994 off of Sprinkle Road in the heart of the city of Kalamazoo. During November 2005, the Kalamazoo location was relocated to a multimillion dollar complex on a 25-acre tract of land in the village of Mattawan Michigan.

Very early in working with the Freightliner brand of trucks it was believed that it would be a wise decision to add an aggressive used truck strategy to the operation. We are known for having one of the largest and most diverse used truck inventories in the country. We currently have over 100 trucks in stock between both locations. In 2008 to increase our used truck presence, we added the SelecTruck used truck strategy at the Kalamazoo location and we have enjoyed offering their programs to our customer base.

Also very early on, it was believed that for certain operations using glider kits would be a great way to reduce the cost for equipment needed for hauling. We have been pioneers for this strategy and would be able to analyze any operation to see if it is in good position to take advantage of the possible cost savings available.

Currently we now employ over 115 people and have made great strides to operate a top-notch service and parts operation at both locations. We now house over three million dollars worth of parts. Our service technicians have a wealth of expertise averaging well over 10 years of experience each and are well trained to service any repair you may have.
